Realizing That Change Is the Only Constant By [https://EzineArticles.com/expert/Hans_Hulm/58156]Hans Hulm It sometimes makes you wonder why we go into great lengths to make life difficult for ourselves. Why do we always create life that is more complicated than it should be? We do not see the fact that each one of us needs to find his own path in personal involvement and we should strive to become the best we can be. But how exactly can we achieve this goal? Simple. It can be done through change. Change is one of the greatest communication tools in the universe. It is through the different and ever-changing circumstances we encounter that we grow and learn to become better persons. However, it is also undeniable that change often goes hand in hand with challenges, difficulties, and pain because we usually try to resist it. It is in our human nature to desire that things will remain constant so that we can remain secure and comfortable in our everyday life. So, when it becomes apparent that change is needed to improve the current circumstances, we do out best to stick to what we know without acknowledging the fact that it is essential to move on in order to improve. And it is important for everyone to accept that change is a part of our life and every person has to deal with it. They can either look at it positively or negatively but in the end, change is still a fundamental part of life. You might be wondering why we always seem to resist change even though we know in our minds that change is important. Well, there is an explanation for this. Our personality which is otherwise known as the ego will fight with the soul or the higher self to maintain the status quo when change is about to happen. The result of this is that a person will not acknowledge the changes he sees in the outside environment that's why, he will become frustrated and depressed because his internal consciousness is yet to cope with the outside changes. However, people should realize that they do have a choice in all these. They can accept change and experience life in all its glorious sufferings and triumphs or they can simply resist change and its manifestations and later become frustrated and miserable. The choice of whether change will be easy for you or not largely depends on your attitude towards it because your attitude is controlled by your thoughts and feelings. But have you ever wondered if you are really aware of the things going through your mind everyday? Most people are not "aware" of their surroundings at all because they live their life on an autopilot without seeing people and things around them. They simply go through their everyday life without paying attention to the finer details. As you can see, it is really no wonder that a lot of people resist change because their daily routine will be interrupted when change occurs. Along the road of being comfortable and secure, people forget that change will enable them to grow both personally and professionally. It is true that change is not easy but when we move away from our comfort zone into things that are yet unknown, we are opening ourselves up to a variety of possibilities. It will also make them more aware of their surroundings so they can appreciate life more. But even if we were aware of all these, the truth is, when given the option to choose whether we will welcome change or not is left in our hands, then it is likely that only a very small percentage of people will accept change. Yet, the universe was designed so that change is the only thing constant in life. Take the example of our life and the aging process itself. When we were still young, we always wanted to become older and more mature. As we age though, we reminisce about the time when we were still young and we want to go back to that period of our lives. When we reach our 20's, we hope that life would remain the same forever. This option is not meant to be though because we will always become older and wiser. We take on several responsibilities, get married, have kids, buy a house, and then plan for retirement. Now, a person can either enjoy or dislike these important events in his life but he will inevitably still grow older. People should look deeper into their lives and determine if they are still fighting the flow of life or if they had already caught its drift and are moving along happily. While being on this journey, it is also essential to realize that the direction of your life is on your hands so you need to take control of your destiny and welcome positive changes that can occur. At a certain point of their lives, most people also ask themselves if they are achieving the dream they set for themselves when they were younger as time goes along. The thing about life though, is that while we try to resist change in our lives, it is also change that gives us the opportunity to reach our dreams. So remember that change is not an enemy we should fight against, rather, it is a friend that is constantly with us and it is constantly urging us to move forward to a better future. NextAction!
